1. Your Powerwall Records site energy
  2. Your Tesla account Stores the readings
  3. Wattlas Brings energy data and tariff prices together
The arrows show data, not electricity. Your equipment settings stay in Tesla.

What does a Powerwall connection add?

Solar and battery energy
See recorded generation, battery charging and battery use for your energy site.
Grid import and export
Follow energy moving between your Tesla energy site and the grid.
Tariffs and EV charging
Add tariff prices and a compatible charger to put those readings in context.

Wattlas connects through your Tesla account. You do not need the gateway's local Wi-Fi password or an installer login. Your Tesla energy site's metering determines which household circuits its readings cover.

What you'll need

Connecting this account requires Wattlas Plus.

  • Your Tesla account login - the same one for the Tesla app
  • Nothing to look up - no API key, no site ID, just a login
  • Under a minute

Connect it in Wattlas

  1. Open Setup → Inverter in Wattlas

Tap the gear icon top-left of the app, then the plug icon for the Inverter tab, and pick Tesla Powerwall from the dropdown.

  2. Tap "Connect with Tesla"

This is the exact card you'll see - unlike the others, there's no key to paste in:

    Connect Tesla Powerwall

How this works: select the button below to sign in on Tesla's site and approve access to your energy data. You are then returned to Wattlas.
    Connect with Tesla
  3. Log in and approve access at Tesla

You're redirected to Tesla's own login page - sign in and approve the connection, and you're brought straight back to Wattlas, already connected.

Wattlas only ever reads. It has no write access to your Tesla account - it can't change modes, reserve levels, or any setting on your Powerwall or gateway. That stays entirely in the Tesla app, same as before you connected Wattlas.

Common questions

Use Tesla's app to control your Powerwall. Wattlas reads its energy data and can show it with your tariff and EV charging, if connected.

Do I need to find an API key or site ID for Tesla?

No. Select Connect with Tesla in Wattlas, sign in on Tesla's site and approve the connection. Wattlas then receives access to your energy data.

Do I need my Tesla gateway's Wi-Fi password?

No. Wattlas uses the Tesla cloud connection through your account. It does not connect to the gateway's local Wi-Fi or require an installer login. Check that your Powerwall is visible in the Tesla app and uploading energy data. Tesla's Powerwall Wi-Fi guide covers the system's internet connection.

Can Wattlas control my Powerwall's charge or discharge behaviour?

No. Wattlas reads your energy site's data through Tesla's API - it has no write access and can't change modes, reserve levels, or any setting on your Powerwall or gateway.
