EV charging
What rate do you pay to charge your EV at home?
Your charger records the energy delivered to your car. Your tariff sets the price. When rates change during a charge, the session total alone does not show which prices applied.
Match your charging to your tariff
Connect a supported charger to see when and how much you charged. Add your tariff to see the rates and grid import costs for those periods. You don't need solar panels or a home battery.
If you connect solar or a battery later, Wattlas can show the car as part of your home's energy use. It asks where the charger is wired; that matters when working out whether a charge came from the grid, solar or battery.
Inside Wattlas
A charging day, with the tariff beside it
The purple spike is 7.64 kWh of car charging between 10:30 and 12:30. The blue line shows the electricity rate through the day. In this example, the car drew from the grid, even though the home has solar and a battery.
Wattlas uses the charger's position in the home system to work out where its energy came from. It does not control charging; schedules and settings stay in your charger's app.

Which chargers can connect?
Charger connections require Wattlas Plus. Choose your charger for the connection steps and requirements:

Still deciding on an EV?
Use the EV vs petrol and diesel running-cost calculator to estimate running costs from your mileage, charging rates and fuel price. To see whether a five-, six- or seven-hour window fits a typical top-up, try the free EV charge-time calculator. Wattlas shows the charging that actually happened.
Common questions
Why your charger app and supplier app can show different numbers.
Do I need solar panels to use this?
No. You can start with a compatible charger and your tariff. Add solar or battery data only if you have it.
Does Wattlas show a separate EV-only bill total?
No. Wattlas shows charger use, the rates at the time and the cost of grid import for each tariff period. The cost breakdown separates car and home kWh, but it is not a separate bill for the car. Your supplier's bill remains the final amount charged.
Can Wattlas start or schedule a charge?
No. Wattlas reads from supported accounts. Continue to manage charging schedules and controls in your charger's own app.
