Independent UK home energy monitoring

Wattlas world map A fixed stylised world map with daylight shading and a static Wattlas W logo. Wattlas Solar, battery, charging and electricity costs.

Wattlas brings compatible solar, battery, EV charger and tariff data into one clear view. Use one part of the system or several: see the energy you use, what it cost, and how the pieces fit together.

Where your energy goes

Follow every kWh, from source to use.

Generation is only half the story. Wattlas separates what powered your home, battery, car and export - so you can see the value of each kWh, not just the total your panels made.

How your energy was used

Stacked chart showing where generated solar energy went across the day: used at home, to battery, exported, and to car charging
Solar
Exported12.56 kWh
To battery13.74 kWh
Used6.33 kWh
Battery used4.92 kWh
Grid used0 kWh
Car charging19.68 kWh

the line is your solar; above it came from the battery or grid

Of the 19.68 kWh the car took, 0 kWh came from your solar & battery and 19.68 kWh from the grid.

Why this exists

One view for energy that rarely lives in one app.

Your charger, tariff, battery and solar setup can all live in separate apps. With Plus, Wattlas brings compatible inverter, energy supplier and EV charger accounts together so you can trace the parts of your home energy setup that matter to you - without tying the answer to one manufacturer's view. The forecast comparison is there when you want an extra check on solar performance.

How it works

What feeds your estimate, and what Plus reads live.

Diagram: weather forecast, long-term solar data, your system spec, and your tariff rates feed into Wattlas, which produces your Estimate, Performance and Alerts. On Plus, Wattlas also reads live from your own inverter (which itself covers your solar panels and battery), your own energy supplier, and your own EV charger - never a direct connection to the hardware itself.

Free builds your estimate from the four on the left. Plus adds a live read of your own system — your own inverter (covering your solar panels and battery), your own energy supplier, and your own EV charger — never a direct line to the hardware, and never anyone else's data but yours.

Today's estimate

Today's forecast generation curve, rising through the day and peaking mid-afternoon

Forecast generation for today, built from your system's spec and live weather — before a single kWh has actually been produced.

Estimate vs actual

Forecast vs actual generation for one day, showing actual running below the forecast in the afternoon

34.87 kWh forecast vs 32.61 kWh actual — a 6.48% shortfall, flagged automatically the moment it happens.

Self-sufficient

Self-sufficient
of today's electricity came from your own panels/battery rather than the grid

Free never sees this number — it only exists once Plus is reading your real generation and consumption together.

A common problem, solved

Accurate EV charging, whatever the wiring.

Setup asks one question — where is your charger wired? — and Wattlas gets every kWh attributed correctly either way, even when your charger and inverter don't talk to each other.

Grid side

Diagram: solar feeds the inverter and battery, which power the house. A CT clamp on the wire between the grid and the inverter measures the charger, which draws straight from the grid - the car never draws from the battery.

The car uses grid power, or spare solar on its way to export — never the battery.

Home circuit

Diagram: solar and grid feed the inverter and battery. A CT clamp on the wire between the inverter/battery and the house measures the charger, which sits on that same protected circuit - the battery can discharge to the car.

The battery can power the car, and the car draws on your solar alongside the house.
