Energy bill checker
Check the arithmetic on a simple household electricity bill. Add the figures printed on your bill to see what its import charge, standing charge and VAT should come to.
How this is calculated
Electricity used is multiplied by the unit rate, then the daily standing charge is added for every day in the billing period. If selected, the standard 5% domestic VAT is added to that subtotal. This is a check of the arithmetic, not a judgement on whether a tariff is right for you.
Common questions
Why might my bill not match exactly?
Bills can include estimated readings, export payments, credits, discounts or adjustments. This tool supports up to three import rates and one standing charge.
Can I use this for a time-of-use tariff?
Yes. Tick the multiple-rate option and enter the kWh and unit rate from each peak, off-peak or other import line on the bill. It supports up to three rates.
